Kerby Jackson is an author, miner and historian living in Oregon's Rogue River Valley, an area where Zane Grey and Jack London often came to write their own novels. He is a 9th generation Oregonian (his ancestors have lived in Oregon since the time before Lewis & Clark made their journey to the Pacific). He
is a compulsive student of the history of the Old West, particularly that
of Oregon.
He writes western fiction, non-fiction and screenplays about the Old West and the Gold Rush era. His western fiction is mainly set in the old days of the Pacific Northwest. Of late, he was has been compiling articles on the history of gold mining in Oregon for Oregon Gold. net and is a regular contributor to Oregon Gold Hunters .com Recently, he has also been available as a public speaker, most recently at the Douglas County Gold Prespectors Gold and Treasure Show at Roseburg, Oregon, where he gave a short presentation entitled "William Stewart and The Origin of American Mining Laws". He is also available for other events or for consultation on related projects. At the moment, he recently completed a novel entitled "The Troubled Land" which is a Western set in the Owyhee Country (the border area shared by Oregon, Idaho and Nevada) and is currently working on two more, entitled "The Tarnished Star" and "Vengeance on Althouse Creek: The Sweet Revenge of Chance Love", both of which are set in his native Rogue River Valley. In addition is a forthcoming non-fiction work, "Gold Fever" which features some of his favorite tales about the Gold Rush era. When he's not writing, he enjoys mining for gold, shooting, hunting, exploring historic locations and just driving with no real destination in mind.
